My Home Town

Recommended Posts

I live in a small farming community called McGregor, it is located in Essex County in the Province of Ontario, Canada

Here: https://www.citypopulation.de/php/canada-ua-ontario.php?cityid=UA1517

I belong to the  http://essexsteamandgasengine.com/ it is a museum full of old farm equipment and accessories..If you click on the site you can see quite a bit of photos of what is inside..

We also have a large Park called Co-An Park, it's known for it baseball games and is sponsored by the Women's League. I call it Abby's Park, Abby is my dog and we walk the park 2 to 4 times a day..

Not much else in town we have a church that is over 100 years old and still going, it's made from hand crafted limestone.

fascinating R - how these small communities all over the world continue to survive and basically look after each other, whilst the cities are mayhem! - we have a tv prog here called "back roads" and they just visit towns all over OZ of popn likes yours and up to 10,000 and explore what keeps them goin. And it is always the people; the farming and the tourists!!

here is my town 9,000

Sanquhar in Scotland

Oldest working post office in the world, 1712 (the year)

Castle, 13th century. Visited by William Wallace (braveheart) Mary Queen of Scots and Edward I when he tried to invade

Sadly a ruin now, would have looked great

Back a couple of months ago I did a DNA test, curious to see where I came from. I have a relative I think maybe a 3rd. grandad that was born in Dumfries Scotland by the name of John Roberts Edgar born Feb 11 1795. Not to far from your village, Poppy.
